Hello everyone,
Well despite recent rains fishing remains consistant. The walleye anglers have been catching fish pretty steady, using crawler harnesses, jigs, leeches and trolling stickbaits, just have to figure out what they want on that day.most of the action has been at the hot pond and the west end of the bay.
Trollers did very well last week with some very nice catches of lakers up to 15lbs and kings up to 12lbs with the scattered browns ,splake and nice steelie mixed in.
most fish have been taken in 40ft of water or less on flatlines or boardlines, but i suspect they will move deeper as a few are starting to get caught on downriggers 40 to 50ft down over deeper water.most fish i've heard of were caught on stickbaits yet.
Smallie action has picked up over the week one angler reporting a 45 fish day already, plastics, cranks and spinnerbaits with senkos being the top ticket right now.3ft to 6ft depths with a few out deeper, but most should be in the spawning mode soon.
Have also been hearing reports of good bluegill and crappie catches starting on the inland waters, they are holding just outside their spawning areas in 5 to 10 ft of water.
The recent rains have brought the rivers up and they are muddy. It will take several days of no rain for them to come back down. Some head waters and tributaries might be fishable. Try big dark colored streamer (wooley buggers and other leech or minnow patterns). With high water think like the fish and go deep. When the weather improves expect to see Sulphur and Brown Drake hatches.
Stop on in at RIVERROCK INN AND BAIT and check out our fine selection of tackle and live bait always something new coming in every couple of weeks, and we do sell leeches by the pound and 1/2 pound.
TightLines Everyone.
