Hello folks here's the latest report for the bay ice conditions and smelt reports. The ice is pretty much gone for this season .There is still ice in the bay but it is moving around more day by day and should be gone by next weekend. Most landings are still froze in but should be okay to launch by mid week. However, Saxon harbor is open right now. There are some anglers hitting open water with small boats were they can reach open water and they are having some success casting and trolling for trout and salmon. Most fishing is on the streams right now for spring run steelhead. Spawn and spoons are working well along with crawlers and spinners. Currently, the water is low and clear rain is needed to get the bite in full swing. Some walleye and pike are being caught at the hot pond on stick baits but again for the most part not much fishing going on yet. saxon harbor is were most anglers are fishing right now with mixed bags of coho, browns and some lake trout being landed . Fishermen that are doing well are using stick baits and some spoons, trolled shallow on planer boards .. Smelting started last night on the east end of town for a few folks were their was open water enough to get out and pull nets I did not here about numbers but they did pull smelt.
